Method and means for simultaneous colorimetric and electrochemical determination of an analyte

Simultaneous colorimetric and electrochemical measurement of an analyte is performed using: (a) an oxidising enzyme, and (b) a chromogen (A) which, after redn. by the enzyme, forms a cpd. (A') which, upon coupling with a substance (BX), forms a coloured substance (A'B) used for the colorimetric measurement and simultaneously liberates a group (X-) used for the electrochemical measurement. Also claimed is an agent for performing the method comprising the enzyme, chromogen (A) and substance (BX) together with a sensor electrode for the electrochemical measurement.
