METHOD OF DETECTING, BY COMPUTING MACHINE, IDENTICAL DATA ELEMENTS IN TWO DATA SEQUENCES

In the method proposed, two data sequences are compared, and a data structure is built up by means of which identical data elements in the data sequences are assigned to each other. In a first assignment procedure, all the data elements which are only present once in each of the two data sequences are assigned to each other, in conjunction with assignment of identical data elements present directly adjacent to each other in a decreasing and in an increasing sequence. In a second assignment procedure, the assignable data elements found in a first largest-possible block are assigned within each section delimited by the data elements assigned in the first assignment procedure. In a third assignment procedure, the assignable data elements found in a first largest-possible section are assigned within the whole of the two data sequences. This method enables the maximum number of data elements to be assigned.
