The undergarment is made in one piece from a lightweight and elastic fabric contg. micro-porous waterproof membrane which is permeable to transpiration. It is made in a number of sections assembled with sealed seams, and shaped to cover the whole of the wearer's body closely. The membrane can be, for example, of PTFE laminated to a textile layer of a polyamide mixture, or of polyurethane with an inner covering of jersey polyester. The main part (1) of the garment covers the whole body with the exception of the head and hands. It has an opening (2) at the top which is closed by a sealed sliding fastener which enables the garment to be put on and taken off. It incorporates sealed foot coverings (3) which are connected to the garment by sealed joints, and its cuffs and neck-band also have seals (4, 5). The garment can have an inner thermal lining or be made from fire-resistant materials.
