Depilatory composition comprising latex polymers and resins and depilatory process

The depilatory compostions (I), which cures by drying and requires no carrier, comprises (A) at least one latex polymer and (B) at least one tackifying resin. Also claimed is the depilation of a body region by applying (I), drying at a temperature allowing solidification and film formation and peeling off the dry film. Preferably (A) is a vinyl acetate-maleic ester copolymer and/or a carboxylated styrene-butadiene copolymer, and is optionally crosslinked, specifically by zinc oxide or a trifunctional aziridine. (A) is contained in (I) at 70-97 (preferably 80-93, especially ca. 90) wt.%. (B) is colophony or a terpene resin, and is contained in (I) at 3-30 (preferably 7-20, especially ca. 10) wt.%. (I) especially contains 10% colophony plus (i) 70% vinyl acetate-maleic ester copolymer and 20% carboxylated styrene-butadiene copolymer or (ii) 90% zinc oxide-crosslinked or trifunctional aziridine-crosslinked carboxylated styrene-butadiene copolymer.
