The invention relates to a process for producing a Chinese ink stick which consists of 65% of carbon, 5% of alumina (1000-1500 mesh), 20% of glue (common glue:50%, fish glue:40%, aqueous blacken fern:10%) and 10% of water(water:95%, aqueous cnidium herb:5%). The process comprises the steps of: boiling water with cnidium and blacken fern for 2 hours; dissolving glues in the water at a low temperature; blending it with carbon (or coloring pigments) and alumina to make colloid until the temperature drops from 50 to 20deg.C; molding it at a mold under a low pressure, followed by caking for 1-3 years.
