The signal processing apparatus converts a multi-bit audio signal having a conventional sampling frequency fs KHz and m (m is an integer) quantization bits into a 1-bit audio signal having a sampling frequency of 64 fs KHz and 1 quantization bit . Therefore, the device can provide an audio signal in a high dynamic range. In addition, the signal processing apparatus is capable of dividing the sub-data added to the multi-bit audio signal in transmission into a multi-bit audio signal and dividing the multi-bit audio signal into a sigma-delta . This suppresses adverse effects on the audio signal. The apparatus is further configured to control the supply of the timing signal and the clock signal to the sigma-delta modulator and the D / A converter based on the sub-data. This makes it possible to precisely control the switching timing.
