Fuel flow control valve and method of controlling cavitation in gas turbine engine fuel system

A valve for controlling the flow of fuel in a gas turbine engine is provided. The fuel flow control valve includes a valve block disposed within the sleeve and a device for displacing either the sleeve or the valve block relative to the other. The sleeve includes an inlet and an outlet. The valve block includes an inlet gate and an outlet gate. One of the sleeve or valve block may be displaced from the closed position to the plurality of open positions relative to the other. In the closed position, the gates close the outlet of the inlet to prevent fluid from flowing through the outlet of the inlet through the valve. In the open position, the gates do not completely close the inlet and outlet, allowing fluid to flow through the inlet and outlet through the valve.
