FIELD: clinical neurology; biology; electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves nervous stimulation with electrical irritation, recording of induced potentials, determination of difference in latent periods (T), measuring distance between electrodes (S), and calculation of velocity of impulse conduction (VIC) from expression: VIC=S/T; then difference in latent periods is determined between average zero-potential points of induced potentials, with the latter being recorded at sensitivity ranging from 2 mV/div to 0.5 mV/div; difference in latent periods is determined between negative phase peaks of induced potentials; difference in latent periods is determined as arithmetic average of latent period differences measured between phase peaks and average zero-potential points of induced potentials; difference in latent periods is measured between isopotential points located on similar non-distorted elements of induced potentials and recorded at same sensitivity and sampling rate, and having similar amplitude and shape; difference in latent periods is determined between similar isopotential points located on drop-down sections of induced potentials, from negative phase peak to positive one of induced potential; partly distorted induced potentials are recorded; one-channel or two-channel recordings of induced potentials are made synchronously or not; difference in latent periods is determined between similar points of induced potentials by means of direct measuring or recording latent periods from irritation artefact to similar point of induced potential, followed by subtraction of smaller value of latent period from higher one.
