A radiation dosimeter for detection and dosimetry of esp. UV radiation is contained within a housing around an inner space. The upper side of the housing is a diffusion cover (10), which is transparent to the radiation of interest and below which is the sensor device (24). Pref. the sensor comprises a hydrophillic substrate (26) coated with immobilised microorganisms (28). The housing has sealable opening for insertion and removal of the sensor device. The housing can be carried by a person and can esp. be attached to clothing.
