The positioning and marking system has an image of the irradiated area projected onto the patient's skin relative to orthogonal coordinate axes via at least 4 line lasers (10,12,22,26) displaced along an axis. Two of the line lasers (10,12) are positioned above the patient table for providing a sagittal line (20) and a transversal line (18), the remaining lasers positioned at the sides of the patient table for projecting lines (28,30) onto the sides of the patient extending in the direction of the body axis. The lines are positioned via numerical setting drives for the lasers using manually entered position coordinates.
