The printing press has at least one basic printing mechanism including a platen cylinder (2) supplied wit ink from an ink system (2), a rubbercloth cylinder (4a) and a printing cylinder (4b). The rubbercloth cylinder and printing cylinder have clamping channels for finite rubbercloths. The platen cylinder has no such channels, since it is made to receive an endless printing form shell. There may be several basic printing mechanisms operating on the rubber against rubber principle, in which two rubbercloth cylinders act as printing cylinders for each other.
