The control process involves lifting the directly driven platen cylinder (10) of the press (1) out of contact with the adjacent rubbercloth cylinder (8) and disengaging the paper guide cylinder (6) before temporarily recoupling it to the platen cylinder to enable the inking mechanism (12) to be cleaned more efficiently.
