Cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical compsns. contain sterols (I) and fatty alcohols (II). Pref. (I) are phytosterols and (II) have the formula: R1OH (II); R1 = 6-22C aliphatic hydrocarbyl gp. opt. contg. 1-3 double bonds. Also claimed is the use of fatty alcohols to reduce the clear m. pt. of sterols.
