A method for the prepn. of water-fast and brilliant print on substrates contg. hydroxy or amide gps. comprises: (i) ink-jet printing the substrate with a dye contg. anionic water-soluble gp(s).; and (ii) applying a cationic polymer auxiliary agent onto the substrate before, during or after printing.
