A super market shopping trolley (4) is passed through a check out where the goods are processed by the cashier. Within the trolley, on its base, is an identification label (12). The data on the label must be entered by the sales cashier into the check out computer to be compared with the read bar code data before the transaction is concluded. On the side of the trolley is a reflector with an integrated bar code (11) or a colour recognition symbol. The code or symbol is read by a sensor or colour recognition sensor (5), located on the side of the checkout counter (6). The sensor is activated or deactivated directly by the reflector, colour symbol or by an additional sensor (1,2,3). Each bar code or colour symbol corresponds in coded form to an identification label. Only when the label is entered into the checkout by the cashier and corresponds with the bar code is the check out procedure complete.
