The cashier system reads out the prices of products from the product code number (11) which is in bar code form. The shopping carts (8) or trolleys in the store all have mobile reading devices (9) for reading and storing product code numbers. A data reader at the cash register (3) reads out the code number stored in the mobile reading device. The cash register includes a scale (6) for detecting the total weight of the products in the shopping trolley. The measured wt is compared with weight calculated based on the product code numbers. When the difference in weights is outside of a certain tolerance region, an error is emitted.
