The mole has four pairs of wheels (6), two at each end. Two pairs are one the moles upper side, two on its lower. At least two of the wheels are driven from a single drive motor (1,9). The wheels are sprung, preferably by a pneumatic spring (12), so that they move away from each other. The upper set of wheels are pressed against the tope of the pipe, and likewise the lower set are pushed against the bottom, allowing the mole to traverse large diameters.
