The invention concerns a method of improving the control behaviour of an anti-locking brake system designed for a vehicle with rear-wheel drive, the method calling for the rotational characteristics of the wheels to be measured and evaluated in order to determine a vehicle reference speed, the wheel slip and other control parameters which are used to measure and adjust the brake pressure in the wheels being controlled. The re-acceleration of the wheels following a decrease in pressure produced by the control system is also one of the control parameters. In order to initiate a pressure increase or decrease, trigger thresholds are defined which, if they are exceeded, trigger the brake pressure increase or decrease. This method calls for the trigger thresholds for increasing the rear-wheel brake pressure to be reduced by an amount dependent on the re-acceleration of the rear wheel, this amount being calculated from the equation RB = -k x a + RG, wherein a is the acceleration, k is a constant and RG is the maximum amount by which the trigger threshold can be reduced.
