An electrical signal generating switch is of a type that can be used for the control of two mirrors on the road vehicle. The unit has an actuator (2) that is mounted in a cross link so that it can be tilted in two directions and also can be turned about the vertical axis. A rotary switching plate (5) has cams (9) that operate against the ends (10) of fingers (8) on a control disc (7) and these press against a sensor foil (4) to give specific outputs for each position. The switching element (6) associated with the rocker action provides four positions.
