A rotating drum processes bulk solids with a wide range of grain diameter. The assembly incorporates a drum mantle (4) with an inlet (4a) at one end and a discharge outlet (4b) at the other. The novelty is that: (a) the discharge end faces a concentric paddle (6,6',6",6'''), rotating wheel (7) whose inner diameter (D2) is larger than the inner diameter (D1) of the drum discharge end; (b) the paddles (6a) receiving the discharged bulk solids are so positioned that they maintain a given minimum distance from the discharge (4b); (c) the surfaces (6a) paddles (6) are all at approximately the same angle ( alpha ) between 0 and 60 degrees to the drum mantle; the rotating wheel (7) is fixed to and rotates with the drum mantle (4).
