The lead (6) has a flexible tubular silicone body (7) into which a relatively rigid guidance wire (16) is pushed as far as the electrode head (8). The ventricular electrode spike (9) and ring (10) and the corresponding parts (11,12) of the atrial electrode are energised via wires (not depicted) coiled around the guidance wire. Portions (17,18) of the tube are made of shape memory alloy and designed to be straightened when the guidance wire is pushed right into it, but to curl when the wire is retracted slightly so that both electrodes engage in the internal walls of the respective chambers (3,2).
