The gravity speed in the yard is between 0.2 km/h and 22 km/h. The length of the units is set, and target braking is initiated, when these approach a vehicle already standing in the sorting siding. To increase the precision of the speed measurement, the rising and falling edges of the pulse frequency of non-skid transmitter magnet wheels are sensed. The rail vehicle has an additional air tank (LB) connected to the main air line (HL), which supplies compressed air to the brake cylinders (BZ1,BZ2) via a magnetic valve (MV3). There is one magnetic valve (MV1,2) per axle, to block the air branch from the control valve (SV) to the brake cylinder. The air line to the brake cylinders contains combine shut-off and relief valves (GS1.1,1.2,2.1,2.2).
