Top rigid and bottom swivelling outer parts are fixed to the horizontal profiled frame (9) and detachably joined to the machine chassis (1). The swivelling outer parts consist of flaps (5,6) which run longitudinally in relation to the direction of travel (F). The flaps swivel outwards and sideways using hydraulic and mechanical controls. The flaps have openings in the sides, while the rear and bottom have an unbroken surface. The two flaps are locked together while leaning on one another in the middle by a detachable closure mechanism (11). An adjustable electric contact switch (14) is positioned on the back top part of the straw collector. The back part of the hood (4) has a support frame (12) on whose two outer sides are fixed hydraulic cylinders (17,18) to whose free ends of the piston rods (19,20) are fixed bolts (21,22). The bolts slide along elongated slots (23,24) in a guide (25,26) on the flaps.
