Optimising travelling times of motor vehicles with special authority by influencing traffic lights

The method involves the use of the Global Positioning System in regions in which the traffic lights are controlled by a traffic computer. Position information received by the vehicle is transmitted to the traffic computer by radio. The traffic computer conducts changes in traffic light control based on the information received. When an accident report is entered the most favourable route for the vehicle is determined and the traffic lights influenced in front of the vehicle.
