A means for preventing unintentional ingestion of liquid hydrocarbons orally, for example, into the stomach and digestive tract or the airways and lungs, by incorporating a suitable additive (I) which by stimulating the taste sensory nerves in the mouth and throat causes a warning reaction resulting in involuntary ejection of the liquid from the mouth.
