Use of complex compounds of formula M(NH3)6-x(L)xAn (I) as activators for peroxygen compounds (especially inorganic peroxygen compounds) in aqueous cleaning solutions for hard surfaces, especially crockery, is new, in which: M = a transition metal selected from cobalt, iron, copper and ruthenium; L = a ligand selected from water, chlorate, perchlorate, (NO2)-, carbonate, nitrate, acetate, halide and rhodanide; x = 0-5; A = a salt forming anion; n = a number such that the complex (I) has no charge.
