The clasp comprises one fastening element which has a head (14,19) and a shaft (13), with a stop (25) between the two. A thread (34) on which the pearls are threaded passes through a lengthwise channel (15) at the back end of the shaft then loops over an abutment (33) and passes back through the channel. The channel ends near the stop and connects two opposingly arranged openings (28,29). The head has a hole (30) near the stop, which is roughly parallel to the centre line of the two openings. A notch (31,32) leads from each opening to the hole.
