Re-oiling device prolonging lubricating life of bearing greases in severe environments and reducing maintenance

The electrical machine is especially a traction motor for rail vehicles and has in its frame (1) a rotor (2) which in turn is carried by a grease-lubricated, rolling (e.g. ball) bearing (3). The rotor (2) has a drive shaft (7) for a gear train. The ball bearing has a re-lubrication device. The construction of the re-lubrication device as a cartridge (14), designed to release oil. Preferably, the cartridge has a perforated casing (17), enclosed by a foam (18), felt or textile fabric. The foam is a polyurethane ester. The cartridge is arranged in the region of an opening for oil filling.
