The cold start device includes a preparation chamber (10), with a small capacity which provides the engine with fuel at the time of a cold start up. The jet is sealed by a wall of the casing (11) and leads to a channel (13) direct from the fuel input (5), so that when the input dosing valve (3) is opened, fuel flows directly to the preparation chamber. At the same time, fuel also flows to the carburettor storage chamber and from the preparation chamber through a calibrated aperture (15) to the axial casing (14) of the starting jet. Here it is mixed with air and sucked through when the appropriate valve (9) is opened.
