The circular comb segment has a base body (1) with a number of combing clothings (3-7) in succession along it with their points aligned to the leading end (V) of the body (1). The clothing (3) nearest the leading end (V) of the body (1) has a higher wear resistance than the following clothings (4-7), being of a steel with a high wear resistance with surface hardening or wear resistant surface cladding. At least one clothing is fitted to the body with a release mounting.
