The prepared inlay for filling a dental cavity has a U-shaped end flange (10) with a stub (12) bonded to one side. The transit between the flange (10) and the stub (12) is smooth. The end of the stub is expanded (22). The inlay is of glass, ceramic, composite or cement, in a light-transparent material. The inlay is prepared with a measurement gauge.
