A method for the recycling of water-containing waste grease

In a procedure for recycling used fats which are mixed with water, the fat is thoroughly mixed, is sedimented to separate it into two phases, and then undergoes a further phase sepn. at a higher temp. before being filtered and vacuum-distilled. The fat may be treated during mixing with a flocculating agent, pref. of a cationic basis. The second stage separation is carried out preferably at about 60 deg. C. The pH during sedimentation and sepn. is kept at about 8, and before the vacuum-distillation it is moved into the acid region. Before the distn., an alkaline hydrolysis of the pre-cleaned fat may if required be performed. The resulting waste water is subjected to a biological clarification. The sludge and residual materials which cannot be put to a biological use are prepared in the normal way for disposal by dumping. USE/ADVANTAGE - For the treatment especially of fats which accumulate in the separators which are required by law to be used for removing fats from waste water before it enters the public drains. These fats are recovered in a manner which protects the quality of the environment.
