New incomplete and complete adjuvants for antigens

An incomplete adjuvant (IA) for antigens such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, including their metabolites or partial structures suitable for immunisation, comprises: (A) 0.01-30% polydimethylsiloxane; (B) 0.01-15% complex emulsifier with an HLB value of 9-16; (C) 45-99% biocompatible salt soln.; (D) 0.01-10% dimethyl sulphoxide; and (E) 0.001-1% chelate former. Also claimed is a complete adjuvant (CA) for antigens as above, contg. components (A)-(E) as above, plus (F) peptidoglycans, based on species specific Staphylococcus aureus strains and/or other strains at a concn. of 0.00001-1 mg as protein N per ml of CA.
