摘要
PURPOSE:To output a read image which has density gradations by applying a specific bipolar pulse voltage or rectangular wave voltage and inputting information which has density gradations optically over continuous irradiation with write light and read light. CONSTITUTION:A driving waveform obtained by adding a DC bias voltage 2 of 0.1-10V to the bipolar pulse voltage or rectangular voltage waveform is used. Consequently, self-polarization that ferroelectric crystal has and the DC voltage are coupled strongly to eliminate bistability, thereby generating a monostable state. Specially, the applied voltage polarity of the pulse voltage or rectangular wave voltage 1 in writing is so selected as to have the opposite polarity from the DC bias voltage 2 and the voltage level is set properly to inverts a director for liquid crystal molecules along a cone at the time of the optical writing, thereby continuously controlling the inversion angle according to the intensity of the write light. Consequently, the image information which has gradations can be obtained.
