PURPOSE: To remove drift of a detection signal in an electronic force balance utilizing an optical position detecting means. ;CONSTITUTION: A signal Va (detection signal) corresponding to a difference in output current between photo-diodes D11 and D12 is created by a subtraction circuit 10, and a signal Vb corresponding to the sum of output currents of the photo-diodes D11 and D12 is created by an addition circuit 20. The signal Vb is multiplied by a designated coefficient and subtracted from the detection signal Va by the subtraction circuit 30.
