The foot of the parasol is held in the ground by a cylindrical case (1) with a conical end. The end and lower part of the case have a wormscrew (5) round them. The support is held in a hole (2) in the top of the case. The hole has toothed tongues (10) round it which are conical at their tip (11) and are articulated by a thinner zone (9). A locking nut (12) is screwed on to the top of the case and compresses the tongues to hold the support.
