Novel process for the mfr. of active graphite-based composites comprises: (a) prepn. of expanded graphite; (b) pre-densification of the expanded graphite, so as to obtain a pre-formed prod. of intermediate density and thickness; (c) impregnation with a soln. comprising an active agent, solvent, and wetting agent; (d) drying of the pre-formed prod.; and (e) further densification to form a composite of determined base density and thickness.
