A suitable lug on the load is gripped by the jaws (10,20) at the ends of the fixed arm (1) and the moving arm (2). The moving arm is pivoted to the fixed arm at (4) and is biased to open by the spring (23). The jaws may be closed by pressure on the hand lever (24), and held closed by the roller (6) riding over the stop (22). When the roller (6) is forced into the stop (22), the lower end of the spring loaded arm (3) moves across so that the stop (32) is at the end (13) of the curved slot. A safety pin may be inserted in the hole (27) in the moving arm and the hole in the fixed arm. The jaws are released to open by light pressure, directly or remotely controlled, moving the stop (32) and the arm (3) to release the roller (6) from the stop (22).
