Adaptive equalisation method for digital radio transmission

The method involves use of a frame synchronisation word which is presented at predetermined intervals on transmission and received at these intervals. When a bit correlation appears in the receiver of a stored frame synchronisation word and the transmitted frame synchronisation word, a predetermined algorithm is initialised. The algorithm is used to calculate the coefficients of an adaptive transversal filter which acts on the received signal. Each time the correlation exceeds a predetermined threshold, an arithmetic unit is initialised which deducts the detected synchronisation word which is then stored according to the algorithm.
