The hinge for connecting a door (14) to a motor vehicle bodywork comprises guides (18,20) enabling the door to move in a direction parallel to its rotational axis. The guides comprise a first hinge (18) whose fixed part (22) is carried by the bodywork and a second hinge (20) whose fixed part (46) pivots about a hub (62), fixed to the door, about the horizontal axis (X-X). An arm (32) connecting the hinge movable parts (30,38) has its parallel rotational axes (V1,V2) perpendicular to the horizontal pivoting axis. The rotating parts and the guides are coupled by two conical gear wheels one of which rotates with the movable part of the second hinge and the other rotates with the door.
