Protective cover for preventing bed-sores

The protective cover, e.g. an elbow pad or knee pad, comprises an inner envelope (1) of fabric filled with padding (2) and an outer envelope (3). The side (3a) of the outer envelope which is in contact with the skin is based on a natural material. Pref. the natural material is silk. The inner and outer envelopes and the padding are all permeable to air and water vapour, with the padding made from a natural and insulating material such as down. The thickness of the padding is designed to prevent any friction between the patient's skin and any surrounding materials of an aggressive or irritating nature. The cover can be attached to the wearer by straps with buckles or fastenings such as Velcro (RTM).
