The mobile chair has a number of functions, including pacing an immobile patient over a lavatory seat. The chair has a pair of small braked rear wheels (2) and a pair of swivelling front wheels. The frame for the backrest (4) of the seat is continued upward into a swept-back portion forming handlebars which enable the attendant to push the chair. The frame has a screw arrangement for fixing the backrest to the metal bars of the frame and the backrest may be adjusted up and down in grooves in the frame to suit patients of different heights. The framework for the seat also has grooves (8) to allow forwards and backwards adjustment.
