Automatic self cleaning water filter - for low maintenance applications in irrigation, swimming pools and industry

Water or another low viscosity liq. is filtered using an automatic self cleaning filter. The filter vessel (1) is connected to a reservoir (2) of filtered liq. under pneumatic pressure. The filter vessel (1) and pressure vessel (2) are linked by a pipe (10) with a non-return valve (9) and control valve (5) linked to a control box (8). These ensure the pressure vessel is kept full during normal operation. The filter itself consists of a perforated tube inside a filter mesh, contained in the filter vessel. The tube passes through the base of the vessel, where it is sealed (14), and leads to the pressure vessel. When the filter becomes blocked its vessel is emptied by a valve (6). The filter is then cleaned by filtered water passing backwards through the filter via an electric valve (7) opened by the control box (8). The control box includes a pressure sensor to detect blockages, electronic circuitry and a battery, all within a sealed case.
