The sequence method of operations involves joining a tripod (9) with external trunnions (10) to a cup shaped envelope (1). The envelope contains peripheral walls (14) of a circular section with extended feet (5) containing drillings (6). The drillings are for the reception of the ends (12) of the trunnions in a single press operation. Firstly, one presses the edge of the peripheral wall of the envelope inwards at the same time at a place situated between two adjacent feet. Secondly, one stops this compression at a predetermined level of deformation and simultaneously places the ends of the trunnions opposite the drillings of the feet thus deformed. Finally, one pushes the peripheral wall back to its original position between the feet. At the same time, one pushes the feet inwards so that the end of the trunnions engage in the drillings of the feet so that the two parts are rigidly assembled.
