A CDMA terminal using a DSP for channel encode/decode and interleave/de-interleave functions

A terminal of a CDMA digital cellular communication system is disclosed. A demodulator demodulates data from a signal received from a base station. In addition, a speech encoder encodes speech data for transmission. A single DSP determines the transmission bit rate and performs the operations of de-interleaving and channel-decoding the demodulated data and outputting the result as first data, and channel-encoding and interleaving data output from the speech encoding unit and outputting the result as second data. A speech decoder decodes the first data and a modulator modulates the second data for transmission to the base station.
