PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deform a curved surface while maintaining the smooth connection state of a patch inside a specified area by instructing the prescribed area of a free-form surface and dividing the free-form surface based on a specified area. SOLUTION: In this free-form surface machining method, the free-form surface SALL is re-divided corresponding to the specified area AR and the four patches S(u ,v)1 C, S(u ,v)2 D, S(u ,v)3 A and S(u ,v)4 B after re-division are just fitted inside the specified area AR. Thus, by moving only an end point group GP 10 inside the specified area AR, without generating an incompatible feeling in the connection state with the curved surface adjacent to the specified area AR, the deformation work of the curved surface desired by a designer is performed only inside the specified area AR. By the constitution, by newly allocating a control point to the respective re-divided patches, only a specified part desired by the designer is deformed.
