PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove NOx from dilute NOx-containing gas retaining at a closed space such as underground parking lot and expressway tunnel and giving an ill effect to a user and a surrounding area by the low temp. treatment. ;SOLUTION: In the catalyst, at least V compd. is deposited on an activated carbon carrier. In such a case, after depositing the V compd. on the activated carbon, or after depositing the V compd. and Br compd., the activated carbon is treated with ammonia. Or, a low temp. denox catalyst for the dilute NOx- containing gas is obtained by subjecting the activated carbon carrier to an oxidation treatment at 60-400°C in the atmosphere after depositing the V compd. on the activated carbon carrier, and moreover depositing the Br compd. at need, moreover treating the activated carbon carrier with the ammonia, and NOx is reduced and removed efficiently by passing a mixed gas of the dilute NOx-containing gas and ammonia at -10 to 50°C in the presence of the low temp. denox catalyst.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
