PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject highly safe promoter capable of sustainably preventing plant root rotting and leave withering due to pathogens, promoting sound plant growth, and effectively accelerating flowering time, by including cinnamic acid (its derivative) and a cyclodextrin. ;SOLUTION: This promoter is obtained by including (A) cinnamic acid (its derivative) and (B) a cyclodextrin(CD) in a molar ratio A/B of 1:(1-10), preferably in the form of clathrate compound. As the component A, a cinnamic acid derivative, e.g. caffeic acid, p-coumaric acid is preferably used. It is preferable that as the component B, α-, β-, and γ-CD all of which are produced by using a CD-producing enzyme of microbial origin, and α- and β-maltosyl CD obtained by maltosylation of the above CDs. Preferable amount of the above promoter to be used is 0.0001-0.2 pt.wt. (0.00001-0.02 pt.wt. in terms of cinnamic acid) per 100 pts.wt. of the total amount of a medium (inclu. soil for culture).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
