PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enabling decoking of an apparatus and thermal cracking of a prepared hydrocarbon raw material without stopping the apparatus. ;SOLUTION: Ethane, water and decoking steam are maintained at 900°C in a steam cracking reactor 30 and is substantially linearly heated to 1,200°C under 1.3 bar absolute pressure in a thermal cracking reactor 40. The steam cracking reactor 30 has 6 tubes for heating. The thermal cracking reactor 40 has 6 lines for heating, which are isolated by partition walls made of ceramic in a shape substantially parallel to a shaft of the reactor 40 and have a number of voids. Each line is provided with a thin layer in parallel with a shaft of an electric heating element. A conduit 7 vertical to the shaft of the reactor 40 encloses an electric resistance and is made of silicon carbide. The conduit 7 contains a conduit gas which is nitrogen.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
