PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an evaluating tool for linearity characteristics by which the linearity characteristics of an image reader to read a fluorescent image can be easily evaluated, by using a fluorescent plate comprising a supporting body and a phosphor layer on the supporting body and arranging the fluorescent plate in such a manner that the phosphor layer is in contact with a wedge of the tool. ;SOLUTION: This tool is equipped with a glass plate 2, a wedge 4 fixed with a spacer 3 to the glass plate 2, and a fluorescent plate 5. The fluorescent plate 5 consists of a supporting body 5a, a base coating layer 5b, a phosphor layer 5c and a protective layer 5d formed on the layer 5c. The fluorescent plate is arranged in such a manner that the protective layer 4c of the wedge 4 is allowed into contact with the protective layer 5d of the fluorescent plate 5. By this constitution, the fluorescent plate 5 is irradiated with excitation light through the wedge 4, the fluorescent light emitted from the phosphor layer 5c of the fluorescent plate 5 is photoelectrically detected, and the obtd. image data is analyzed.
